Perhaps one of Bailey's most recognizable drawings is that of Times Square, done in 1934. On the left we see Bailey's version of the famous location. A few cars drive by, with pedestrians waiting to cross the street. Advertisements are at a minimal, and one can still imagine being able to hear oneself think. On the right is present day Times Square, bursting with taxis and tourists all hurrying to get somewhere. The buildings are plastered with ads and lights, and you can almost hear the cars honking their horns. The difference is astounding, and it reminds us how much technology has influenced and changed our lives. Through Bailey's work we are able to get a glimpse of how things once were.
